About Basketball Champions League
The Basketball Champions League competition, known as BCL, is a tournament organized by FIBA on an annual basis for European club teams. It is in direct competition to the tournaments and various sports matches organized by Euroleague Basketball.
A relatively new contest, the tournament begins with 32 teams arranged into groups, played in a round-robin format. The highest placing teams progress to a knockout tournament with the hope of winning the Basketball Champions League Trophy along with an award of prize money.
The first season of the tournament ran between 2016 and 2017, and the current season culminates in 2020.
